A pottery studio built on heart, creativity, and community.

Throw Pottery Studio was born from the space Marlaina wished existed when she first fell in love with clay. Pottery brought her healing, grounding, and a sense of community during some of the most important moments of her life. It reminded her how powerful art can be, not just for the world, but for the individual.

Over time, the dream grew: a loving, encouraging studio where anyone could learn pottery without feeling intimidated, judged, or out of place. A place where beginners feel supported, artists feel inspired, and creativity is valued.

Throw is that dream brought to life, its a studio built for sharing the love of art and fostering the courage it takes to do it.

Meet Marlaina - The Pottery Lady

Artist, instructor, and founder, Marlaina is deeply passionate about encouraging others to create. Through her growing community on Instagram and YouTube, she inspires people with her guiding belief: Art is important and so are you.

With years of experience teaching pottery, Marlaina has helped countless students reconnect with their creativity and confidence. Her teaching style is gentle and uplifting, grounded in both skill and heart, and rooted in the belief that creativity is something we all deserve access to.

Throw was born from her own journey with clay. It is her way of creating the space she once searched for. A place where people can slow down, explore, and discover themselves through art, just as pottery helped her do.

Why I Started Throw Pottery Studio

Throw Pottery Studio was born from the exact space I wished existed when I first fell in love with clay. Pottery changed my life in ways I never expected. It grounded me, healed parts of my heart, and connected me with people who helped me grow as both an artist and a human. I’ve always believed that the process of creation isn’t just making something. But it's a process that touches our hearts, and can offer a light to someone else.

I created Throw because I wanted to offer that same experience to others. A space where beginners feel supported, where artists feel encouraged, and where community happens naturally. I wanted to create a space where pottery isn't intimating or difficult to access. Pottery enlightened my life in ways I will spend my entire life trying to express and I want to offer the opportunity to feel that enlightenment to others.

Throw is the studio I always dreamed of. And now, it’s a space I get to finally share!

Our Mission

Throw Pottery Studio is a community-centered ceramics studio dedicated to expanding access to high-quality arts education while cultivating a supportive environment for creative growth. Through memberships, structured classes, skill-building workshops, and community events, Throw provides individuals of all experience levels with the opportunity to learn, explore, and connect through pottery. Our mission is to offer a safe, inclusive, and skill-driven workspace that enriches the local community, supports emerging and established ceramic artists, and contributes to the cultural and creative development of the local area.

Courage

Art, if done well, demands us to try, to experiment, and to self-reflect. To create art requires the courage to try and fail. We honor the bravery it takes to go through the process of creation.

Our Values

Presence

At Throw, presence is a core value because it invites people to step out of distraction and into experience. It is in these moments of attentiveness that art is made, confidence is built, and something meaningful begins to take shape.

Growth mindset

Pottery, like all things in life, offers opportunities of growth through overcoming challenges. We encourage you to approach these difficulties with a mindset of curiosity rather than judgment, and patience with yourself.

Love + Respect

Everyone deserves to be loved fully, and respected in their unique way of being. All teachers at Throw are encouraged to operate with empathy and love toward every person and meet them where their at.
